WHAT IS THE SNCCA?? The Southern Nevada Construction Careers Alliance grew out of a desire of the Las Vegas chapter of the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA) to promote and support cooperative efforts to:
Currently the SNCCA supports the cooperative educational programs and efforts of the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), Clark County School District (CCSD) and their Career and Technical Academy (CTA) programs, College of Southern Nevada (SCN), Nevada State College (NSC), and the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV). CFMA representatives sit on the advisory boards for each of these institutions. |
Since 2005 CFMA has sponsored an Annual Putt-a-thon Golf Tournament and Auction held each May at Angel Park Golf Course. All net proceeds from this event are dedicated to the Southern Nevada Construction Careers Alliance. Over the past four years CFMA has raised in excess of $175,000 in cash and donated equipment and services. CFMA and the SNCCA have pledged a five year $10,000 per year commitment to the Construction Management program at UNLV, in addition to an annual $5,000 scholarship for the same program. UNLV has also received over $10,000 in cash, equipment, and reference materials. In 2008 UNLV received a fifty user license for Chameleon imaging software from Construction Imaging Systems valued at over $50,000. CFMA and the Alliance have also donated more than $10,000 in construction tools and equipment, and computers to the CTA programs at CCSD. In 2008 CFMA will also be donating to the CTA programs a GPS survey system valued at over $22,000. CFMA is currently working in cooperation with CCSD to develop a marketing brochure focused on middle school students to promote construction careers and encourage enrollment in the CTA construction-related programs.
